90 miles to freedom. 90 miles from home.
I was born, Amarilys Gacio (now Rassler), in Havana, Cuba. I came to the United States as a Peter Pan child in 1960. I originally arrived in Miami, Florida and now call Tampa my home.
I am a graduate of the University of South Florida and I am a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and more.
I write poetry and prose. My first book, Cuban-American, Dancing On The Hyphen, was published in December 2011. It celebrates my heritage and the blessings of living in the U.S.
I live to make memories with my family.
